Marine Fiberglass / Composite / Paint Technician (CPM)

Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Marine Fiberglass/Composite/Paint Technician to join our team. This role is responsible for performing repairs and refinishing work on fiberglass, carbon fiber, metal, and composite structures, as well as applying paint and protective coatings to vessels. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in marine repair, attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering high-quality results.
Key Responsibilities:
Fiberglass & Composite Work:
- Repair and fabricate fiberglass, carbon fiber, and composite components, including hulls, decks, superstructures, and other vessel parts.
- Perform structural repairs, lamination, and gelcoat application.
- Sand, grind, and prepare surfaces for repair or refinishing.
- Mix and apply resins, epoxies, and other composite materials to repair or strengthen structures.
- Inspect and test completed repairs for structural integrity and aesthetic quality.
Painting & Coating:
- Prepare surfaces for painting through sanding, blasting, or chemical treatments.
- Apply primers, paints, topcoats, and specialty coatings to vessels using brushes, rollers, or spray equipment.
- Ensure all coatings are applied evenly and adhere to manufacturer specifications and quality standards.
- Perform touch-ups, blending, and final finishing work for a flawless appearance.
- Inspect finished work for quality, uniformity, and adherence to client expectations.
General Responsibilities:
- Work with other technicians and trades, such as electricians and mechanics, to coordinate repairs and maintenance tasks.
- Follow all safety protocols, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and handling of hazardous materials.
- Maintain and operate equipment, including sprayers, sanders, and grinders, ensuring tools are clean and in good working condition.
- Keep accurate records of work performed, materials used, and time spent on each project.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, project managers, and clients to provide updates on progress and address any issues.
- Assist with other marine maintenance tasks as needed, including cleaning and inspecting vessels.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in fiberglass, composite, or marine painting work.
- Strong knowledge of fiberglass and composite materials, repair techniques, and lamination processes.
- Proficiency in using tools and equipment for fiberglass repair and painting, including spray guns, sanders, and grinders.
- Familiarity with marine coatings, gelcoat repair, and fairing techniques.
- Attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality craftsmanship.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and repair specifications.
- Physical stamina and the ability to work in confined spaces, at heights, or in various weather conditions.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot and recommend effective repair solutions.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in a marine or industrial environment.
- Certifications in fiberglass/composite repair or marine painting are a plus (e.g., ABYC, NACE, or equivalent).

Marine Service Technician (CPM)

Position Overview:
We are looking for a knowledgeable and experienced Marine Service Technician to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining various marine systems, including engines, propulsion systems, electrical systems, and other vessel components. This role requires a deep understanding of marine mechanics, strong problem-solving skills, and a commitment to safety and quality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Diagnose and repair marine engines, propulsion systems, and other mechanical components on a variety of vessels, including inboard and outboard motors, diesel engines, and sterndrives.
- Perform routine maintenance and service tasks, such as oil changes, filter replacements, fuel system checks, and cooling system flushes.
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems, including batteries, wiring, lighting, and navigation equipment.
- Inspect, repair, and maintain hydraulic systems, steering systems, and other auxiliary equipment.
- Conduct sea trials and performance tests to ensure repairs are effective and systems are operating correctly.
- Use diagnostic tools and software to identify issues and perform repairs accurately and efficiently.
- Document all work performed, including service records, parts used, and time spent on each job.
- Provide excellent customer service by explaining repairs and maintenance tasks to customers, answering their questions, and offering advice on vessel care.
- Ensure all work is completed in accordance with industry standards and safety regulations.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, including proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials.
- Keep up-to-date with the latest developments in marine technology, tools, and repair techniques through ongoing training and professional development.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a marine mechanic or service technician, with strong knowledge of marine engines, electrical systems, and related components.
- Certification from a recognized marine mechanics or technical program is preferred (e.g., ABYC, NMMA, or manufacturer-specific certifications).
- Proficient in the use of diagnostic tools and software for marine systems.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, diagrams, and schematics.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical issues to non-technical customers.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Valid driver’s license required; a commercial driver’s license (CDL) is a plus.
- Ability to work in various environments, including outdoors, in confined spaces, and at heights.

Candidates must have 3 to 5 years’ experience in the industry servicing mechanical and ship’s systems. Certifications are a plus (ABYC, Mercury, Yamaha, Westerbeke, Cummins, Yanmar, etc.). We are seeking a hardworking and reliable Marine Yard Worker to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for a variety of tasks related to the maintenance and organization of our marine yard. - Assist with the launching, hauling, and blocking of vessels in the yard.
- Perform general boat maintenance and service work to include, but not limited to: waxing, bottom painting and zinc replacement
- Work closely with the Yard Foreman and assist fellow crewmembers as needed.
- Support marine technicians and other yard personnel with tasks such as moving parts, tools, and materials.
- Operate yard equipment such as forklifts, travel lifts, and trailers to move vessels and materials safely and efficiently.
- Assist with the inspection and preparation of vessels for maintenance or repairs.
- Perform basic maintenance and repair tasks on yard equipment and facilities as needed.
- Ensure that all work is conducted safely and in compliance with company policies and environmental regulations.
- Maintain a clean and orderly work environment, including the proper disposal of waste and hazardous materials.
- Provide assistance to customers and clients as needed, ensuring a positive experience while on-site.
- Report any issues or safety concerns to the yard supervisor or management.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a marine or industrial yard setting is preferred but not required.
- Ability to operate yard equipment such as forklifts, travel lifts, and trailers ( certifications are a plus).
- Strong understanding of safety procedures and regulations in a yard or industrial environment.
- Physical stamina and the ability to lift heavy objects, work in various weather conditions, and perform manual labor for extended periods.
- Basic mechanical skills and the ability to perform minor repairs on equipment and facilities.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work well within a team.
- Attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions accurately.
- Valid driver's license required; a commercial driver's license (CDL) is a plus.
